Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Phobias
It is not uncommon to have an aversion to certain kinds of situations or animals. Examples include heights, water, airline travel, spiders, mice, and injections. For some, encountering these things leaves them uneasy and anxious. For others, the anxiety they feel is so strong that it can interfere with their life. The Anxiety and Depression Association of America offers this useful brochure to determine when it’s appropriate to consider CBT for specific phobia. This treatment helps individuals challenge exaggerated beliefs and gradually face down their fears. Therapy typically consists of 12 sixty-minute sessions. More information about CBT for phobias can be found here.
