Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for
Social Anxiety
I confess then when I when to school to be a psychologist, I didn’t realize there would be a lot of public speaking. The first time I had to stand in front of a crowd and be expected to sound smart, my heart felt like it was going to explode. I knew if I wanted to be a psychologist in Cincinnati, OH I need to overcome this issue, and I did. I now look forward to and enjoy presenting in front of large groups. I feel relaxed and like myself. I got to this point by using the techniques from CBT for social anxiety.
This therapy involves gradually and systematically facing down fears and expanding one’s comfort zone. It also helps individuals challenge exaggerated negative beliefs and fears of judgment. Treatment typically consists of 12-15 sixty-minute sessions. More information about CBT for social anxiety can be found here.
