Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)
Good sleep is essential to health and well-being and a lack of it often has a profound effect on the quality of living. CBT-I is a very well-supported, decades-old insomnia treatment that uses specific techniques to help you get to sleep faster, stay asleep longer, and not wake too early. It works by enhancing sleep hygiene (routines known to promote better sleep), improving associations with sleep, challenging unhelpful thoughts, and consolidating sleep time (sleep restriction). CBT-I is often more effective than any sleep medication and has been shown to have longer-lasting benefits. Therapy for insomnia in Ohio typically consists of 8-15 sixty-minute sessions. More information about CBT-I can be found on the Mayo Clinic’s website.
